Mindful Communication

Mindful and Compassionate Parenting Workshop

When children are misbehaving or having an emotional outburst it is often because they are feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes when we react automatically and try to ‘fix’ things or make our child feel better, this can escalate the situation or create unhelpful patterns of interactions leaving everyone feeling stressed and unhappy.

In this session we explore ways we can use mindfulness when we are speaking and listening to our child to help them to feel heard and supported, cope with their feelings, enhance the relationship, and create space where solutions can be explored together.

This is one of a series of three half day workshops which explore key principles of Mindful and Compassionate Parenting and how these can be used in family life.

The half day workshop is delivered in a small group of 6-12 parents.

Cost: £45

Overcoming the Barriers to Connection

Mindful and Compassionate Parenting Workshop

Sometimes the competing demands of our busy lives can get in the way of us being fully available and aware of what may be contributing to our child or teenager’s behaviour or the way in which we respond. Parenting can trigger a range of emotions and we can be hard on ourselves when things don’t go according to plan.

This session explores how mindfulness can help us be more present and responsive to our child’s individual needs and emotions. We’ll reflect on the importance of noticing the unhelpful thought patterns and difficult emotions which can influence our interactions and consider how compassion can help us overcome our own and our child’s setbacks in a kind non-judgemental way.

Coping with Conflict

Mindful and Compassionate Parenting Workshop

Stress and conflict are a normal part of daily life. The things which are said or actions which are taken during difficult situations can create tension and impact on the relationship you have with your child or teenager. It can be very difficult when emotions are running high to consider the other person’s view or feelings and resolve things calmly.

This session helps us to understand the ways we react during and after conflict or difficult family situations and consider how this can affect the relationships and interactions, we have with family members. We will explore effective mindfulness strategies which can help us gain a wider perspective and respond in more effective ways during challenges.

This is one of a series of three half day workshops which explore key principles of Mindful and Compassionate Parenting and how these can be used in family life.
